Official Cover-Up

The 9/11 cover-up is dauntingly powerful and far-reaching. It runs the gamut—from destroyed evidence, gag orders, media censorship, and propaganda, to the creation of highly suspect investigations and reports.

The two main investigations were the Joint Congressional Inquiry (“Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities before and after the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001”) and the 9/11 Commission (“The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States”). Neither gave the public an honest account.

In the case of premeditated, unavoidably public crimes such as assassination and false flag terror, the cover-up can be much more telling than the actual crime. Such events must have satisfactory resolutions and (at least somewhat) feasible cover stories. The goal is to create a sense of legitimacy and authority by scripting and reinforcing an “official story.”

The conspirators must also know that they can exert a certain amount of control and pressure over those who may investigate and report on the crime—the media, lawmakers, and courts. Organized conspirators are well aware of psychology and techniques to manipulate people’s minds into believing their deception. They are also likely aware of Hitler’s concept of the “big lie” and the general public’s extraordinary capacity for denial and avoidance. 4

The cover-up of 9/11 was already being constructed long before the actual attacks. It can be traced through thwarted investigations, warnings, and foreknowledge. The cover story and the necessary patsies were being tracked and/or arranged perhaps years in advance of 9/11.

Evidence

  • Senator Max Cleland, one of the only vigilant members of the Commission, stepped down in December 2003, and became an outspoken critic of the cover-up. Cleland later said, “This is a scam, it’s disgusting. America is being cheated.” And, “As each day goes by, we learn that this government knew a whole lot more about these terrorists before September 11 than it has ever admitted…. Let’s chase this rabbit into the ground. They had a plan to go to war and when 9/11 happened that’s what they did; they went to war.” 10

  • Most of the 9/11 Commissioners had major conflicts of interest—ties to the Bush administration and/or certain corporations. Philip Zelikow, the executive director of the commission, was the one who directed the staff regarding which evidence and lines of inquiry they should follow. Zelikow was previously a member of the Bush/Cheney transition team and co-wrote a book with Condolleezza Rice. Vice chairman, Lee Hamilton, a prominent establishment democrat, had previously been involved in the cover-ups of the Iran Contra affair and the October Surprise election scandal. 8

  • The 2002 Joint Inquiry by the House and Senate Intelligence committees was called a cover up even by one of the two chairman who ran the Inquiry—Senator Bob Graham (D-FL). 28 pages of the report were classified and not released to the public. The contents of the redacted pages discuss sources of foreign support for some of the September 11th hijackers while they were in the United States. 5

  • Investigators tasked with studying the collapse of the WTC buildings had restricted access to the site and physical evidence. The structural steel was almost immediately removed from Ground Zero and exported to Asia to be melted down and recycled.

  • The US media maintains an effective blackout on certain aspects of the 9/11 story. Cogent questions and research brought forth by the 9/11 Truth Movement have been completely ignored.

  • The investigations by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and NIST (National Institute for Standards and Technology) were incomplete and underfunded. Even FEMA admitted that the official theory on the collapse of WTC 7 had “only a low probability of occurence.”

  • Dr. David Ray Griffin identifies over 100 errors and ommissions in the 9/11 Commission Report. 3

  • Two of the most glaring omissions are the report’s failure to even mention the collapse of WTC Building 7 or the involvement of Pakistan’s ISI intelligence service.

  • The Bush administration actually opposed the formation of a special commission to investigate 9/11. When they finally gave in to outside pressure, Bush appointed cover-up master Henry Kissinger as the Commission’s original director. Kissinger later had to resign because of public skepticism and because he would have had to disclose his business associations.
