Ron Paul Convention (Grover Norquist, Barry Goldwater, and Tucker Carlson) (8 posts)

In good company? How do all those truthers reconcile Tucker Carlson's alliance with Paul after he has done so much to ridicule the movement?

    http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Ron_Paul_followers_g...

Speakers at the Paul rally include former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, tax activist Grover Norquist, former California Rep. Barry Goldwater Jr., political commentator Tucker Carlson, former two-term New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson and the baby-delivering doctor supporters call Dr. Paul.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grover_Norquist

Norquist, along with Bill Kristol, Ralph E. Reed, Jr., Clint Bolick, and David McIntosh, is one of the so-called "Gang of Five" identified in Nina Easton's 2000 book by that name, which gives a history of leaders of the modern conservative movement. He has been described as "a thumb-in-the-eye radical rightist" (The Nation), and "Tom Paine crossed with Lee Atwater plus just a soupçon of Madame Defarge" (P.J. O'Rourke). Norquist's page on the web site of Americans for Tax Reform includes a laudatory quote about him from former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. Indeed, Norquist co-authored the 1994 Contract with America.

In 1999, he was instrumental in securing early support for then Texas Governor George W. Bush, continuing a decades-long association with Karl Rove ("The Wall Street Journal's John Fund dubbed him "the Grand Central Station" of conservatism and told The Nation: "It's not disputable" that Norquist was the key to the Bush campaign's surprising level of support from movement conservatives in 2000").[6] After Bush's election to the White House in 2000, Norquist was the prime architect behind the many Bush tax-cuts ("Grover Norquist: 'Field Marshal' of the Bush Plan").[7]

But 911blogger put Justin Martell's story of this on the front page. . .

Ron Paul's go-to person on 9/11 appears to be Jim Fetzer.

Hmm, seems like nobody really cared about these horrendous associations...

If I'm not mistaken, at around 4:46, while discussing the Warren Commission and the scientific method, Ventura motions towards Jim Fetzer, and says, "Right Jim?" Fetzer responds, "Absolutely." And Ventura says, "There's a scientist, right there. He will tell you that you cannot have a predetermined ending; you have to have the facts and let the facts lead you where they may..."

Once again, great, just wonderful, top notch people over there at that Ron Paul Convention.

Ventura looks to me to be extremely naive but earnest, but who knows? Ron Paul does not strike me as naive, but rather like someone who is sophisticated enough to foster that image for his advantage in a very calculated way. So what does it mean that Ron Paul is now associated with the Fetzer/Barrett nexus? That we have another blatant reason not to trust him, and that people who go on making excuses for him, following him, and promoting him are thoroughly deluded.

    Ventura endorses 9-11 conspiracy theorist
    http://www.startribune.com/politics/state/27869284...

Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura has endorsed a Sept. 11 conspiracy theorist for a congressional seat.

Ventura came out Thursday in support of Kevin Barrett, a Libertarian running against incumbent Democrat Ron Kind for western Wisconsin's seat.

Barrett is a former University of Wisconsin-Madison lecturer who believes the U.S. government was behind the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and has discussed his views in class.

    Ron Paul 2012

    http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/04/10/republican....

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney defeated Texas Rep. Ron Paul by a single vote in the Southern Republican Leadership Conference's 2012 straw poll on Saturday

Conference-goers had predicted that Romney and Paul would compete for the straw poll's top two spots, as their supporters worked hard to get like-minded delegates to the voting room.

A group called "Evangelicals for Mitt" was a visible presence at the conference, handing out copies of Romney's new book and pink piggy banks emblazoned with the slogan, "Elect a president who won't break the bank."

Paul's loyal supporters, many of them college-aged, showed up in droves on Saturday to cast ballots before attending the congressman's speech in the afternoon.
