    Top 10 Right-Wing Conspiracy Theories

The American radical right has to be considered a strong contender for the title of modern conspiracy champion.

My favorite conspiracy theory hoax was when Donald Rumsfeld said (Oct 12, 2001) that a "missile" hit the Pentagon. It was just a conspiracy to create fake conspiracy theories to discredit anyone who dared to suggest there might be more to the story than what the media reported. Who needs to connect the dots between the (mainstream media) accounts that Britain, France, Germany, Russia, Israel, Jordan, Egypt and other countries provided specific warnings to the Bush Cheney White House that the attacks were about to happen? It's much more fun to point to the most lunatic claims, debunk them, and then insinuate that because they're B.S. the government is telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. It's a slick form of psychological control, sad that Alternet buys into it.

The "left" blew it when they let the "military industrial complex" (to use Eisenhower's term) remove President Kennedy from office after he changed his mind on the Cold War and empire. There's many, many books on the JFK assassination, some good, some not, but the very best is James Douglass "JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters." Unfortunately, I doubt that Alternet and the SPLC will touch the issue of fascists in high office, it's safer to focus on working class wannabe fascists and low-level racists.

"Conspiracy" is a legal term that has specific meaning. Would Alternet seriously suggest that Bush and Cheney and their minions did not "conspire" (work together in illegal ways) to create the deceptions that led to the War on Iraq? Sure, there's an endless array of crackpot ideas but there's also solid evidence to some claims, drowned out by being surrounded by bogus nonsense. There seems to be a conspiracy to create fake conspiracy claims, look at what happened to end Dan Rather's career at CBS (see BS) for a good example of how this tactic is used.
