Yes, ANYBODY can make a report to VAERS online. But it's presumably been effective and somewhat accurate in the past. Otherwise it would have been abandoned, right? But now everyone is saying that it's totally worthless because they don't like the data coming out of it. Yes, a lot more people could be making fake reports, but it's also possible that that is not the case.

VAERS is like Wikipedia, anyone can post anything to it.

The anti-public health groups have been spamming it recently, flooding it with mostly false claims. It's worthless until confirmed. It didn't use to be as bad as it's become, thanks to anti-faxxers.

Before covid, there was a guy who posted a complaint that a vaccine had turned him into the Incredible Hulk. It was a test to see if something that ridiculous would be screened out and it was. But more subtle BS is harder to track. Clearly some people have a bad reaction (sore arm doesn't count). Most deaths don't get autopsies and even if they did, proving correlation to vaccination would be difficult at best. Giving nearly everybody something means a few will die shortly afterwards, especially when the elderly get their shots first. I had a friend who was 77 who died not long after covid vaccination (and two mutual friends are convinced that did him in) but he also had suffered a heart attack almost a decade earlier. Not saying it was the cause or was not, good luck proving or disproving ...
