We've reached a million dead from covid in the USA, nearly all of them unvaccinated (either before the vaccines were available or the anti-vaxxers since vaccinated started).
This shows the real level of education and compassion in our society.
In reality, we passed a million months ago, if "excess deaths" are considered (and the downplaying / renaming of covid deaths in Florida and some other states is factored in).
Worldwide we're at 6 million official dead but the true toll may be 18 million or more.
Like Bhopal and Chernobyl, the accurate count will never be precisely known.
It's also ruined a lot of survivors' health with complications that will shorten their lives. It's also burned out medical staff (not just in USA) but the haters don't care about that.
One small benefit of this disaster is the Republican deniers dying from covid may impact the NOv. 2022 elections in Michigan, Georgia, Arizona, etc. I'm not a Democrat but it would be nice to see Republicans lose races because they spread anti-vax hoaxes and literally died to "own the libs."
It's a caution about how unwilling people will be to reduce consumption to cope with climate chaos and peak everything. Brace for impact and help your neighbors.
