    Permaculture Brainstorming Meeting

WHAT: Permaculture Brainstorming Meeting: How to get the permaculture message out in NYC introducing Tri-State Food Not Lawns

WHERE: General Theological Seminary Seabury Auditorium 175 Ninth Avenue, between 20th & 21st Street Manhattan

WHEN: Monday, May 7, 7 to 9 PM

SPONSORS: Tri-State Food Not Lawns Peak Oil NYC Neighborhood Energy Network

Folks are interested in doing permaculture in New York City. Large and enthusiastic audiences attended presentations by Albert Bates on October 29th, Toby Hemenway on January 28, and Claudia Joseph on March 31. What are the next steps in getting more people involved in permaculture, urban gardening, and regional agricultural self-reliance?

Tri-State Food Not Lawns, a new NYC group inspired by Heather Flores' "Food Not Lawns," http://www.foodnotlawns.com, is organizing several one-day permablitzes - instant permaculture yard makeovers - and is producing a permaculture design course this summer at New York Open Center. There have already been some workshops and local lectures, but these are individual events lacking cohesive goals.

All of us want to move NYC toward a tipping point of sustainability. Please come with ideas, and be prepared to work in groups to think about what we want to learn, what we want to teach, what we want to do, and how we can get there.

Dan and Lois will moderate and use the World Cafe community dialog process to get the discussion rolling. http://www.theworldcafe.com

Once again, the General Theological Seminary is generously offering space for our meeting.
