2008 Declaration getting some international recognition (11 posts)

So Cosmos went down to the Australia conference and he and John Bursill decided to start a new project in Australia as many were feeling like 911oz dealt with some issues that tended to alienate the general public or reflect poorly on the movement, or dealt with them in a negative manner.

They are currently working on starting TruthAction in Australia.

    http://www.truthaction.org.au/ (under construction)

And they have decided to use the 2008 Declaration as a template from which to create their own declaration to use as a founding document for the new project. They don't agree with everything in our document, but I'm quite thrilled that the declaration has served the purpose of encouraging others to make similar kinds of distinctions between positive and negative behavior in the movement.

Thanks go to Kim in Australia on both of the threads above for encouraging them to consider the declaration, and for being adamant about addressing the concerns she had with the situation as it stood.

It got distributed at the EU meeting a few weeks ago also:

One marvellous person thankfully had printed out loads of copies of the TruthMove 2008 Declaration: Standards and Strategies for 9/11 Truth and i think the sentiments resonated amongst everyone - saved us all a lot of work too :-)

Glad to see there are a few people out there who understand.

Sorry you had to endure the wrath of the people on those boards, chrisc: http://www.nineeleven.co.uk/board/viewtopic.php?t=...

If certain people within the Truth Movement are naive enough to think that this situation needs no examination, or should be excluded from any discussion on 9/11, world peace, or anything else for that matter, then it is clear that the Israel Lobby has also successfully penetrated the 9/11 Truth Movement and is attempting to use its undoubted influence to curtail or totally stifle important areas of investigation.

We, all of the authors of the Declaration, made very concerted effort to make a distinction between DISCUSSION, RESEARCH, and PUBLIC PROMOTION. Which all of our attackers have conveniently ignored. But then again, these are the people who think we need to be putting crap like "Israel did it" and "a missile hit the Pentagon" front and center. No surprise. I would simply refer them back to the Declaration rather than argue with them.

    Chrisc,

Thanks a lot for calling our attention to this. We would have missed it. It means a lot to us, and I'm sure others who participated, to know that our work is having some positive benefit. For a while it seemed that the Declaration might just get swept under the rug. But I'd like to assume that people are more concerned than ever with the internal problems facing our movement, and are looking for solutions. As I said above, we simply hope that we have inspired others to address these issues in whatever way feels most appropriate to them.

I endorse that statement (as well as our original one). I see that your treatment of the Pentagon, global warming, and "off-topic" issues is probably better explained and perhaps easier to take for some people. We did find that the only people who were vehemently against our declaration were the ones who we saw as participating in the "damaging behavior" we had tried to address. But perhaps the Declaration can gain wider positive support in this new form.

We'll talk about possibly revising the original...

    Great work!

Hello friends, and greetings from Finland!

I'm relatively new to all these suspicions about the official 9/11 story. I've always been very sceptical about anything that smells like conspiracy theory, and as it was clear from day one that there will be lots of them concerning 9/11, I never really gave any of them a chance -- a mistake which has taught me a lot.

A friend of mine I barely know asked if he could arrange a free presentation of Zeitgeist the Movie in my movie theater (yep, I've got one). I agreed as I really love to be able to use the theater to give space for events that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to arrange, no matter what my personal bias towards the issue at hand is.

So, we had a Zeitgeist screening on the official Z-day (March the 15th). I knew very little about the movie, but I knew it had something to do with 9/11 conspiracy theories. I was 99.9% certain my opinions would not change, no matter what. Two hours later I could only wonder how blind I had been.

Now it seems that there's an avalanche of new kind of awareness growing around the world. It's not only about 9/11, but it seems to be the most significant single issue, towards which this awareness is directing itself. The last few weeks have been especially significant. The floodgate still appears to hold, but only barely.

I'm pretty sure we're well past the point at which anyone could prevent the truth from coming out. There's an obvious reason to this: Internet is providing us an incredibly effective way to share knowledge and get networked. I don't think most people have a clue where this may be leading us to, but I believe it won't take long until we'll be witnessing a completely new meaning of "power of the people".

Even though the 9/11 itself was a huge tragedy, it may actually be helping this new way of thinking to break through.

    See you!

Welcome, Jyri, and thanks for the valuable insights! It's especially interesting for us to hear this story of a "skeptic" opening up to questioning the 9/11 official story.

We have a very similar take on the possibilities of 9/11 for waking people up. From our 9/11 Truth page:

Deconstructing the official story of 9/11 seems to be a process which is “awakening” people throughout the world. Many are beginning to see the brutal and deceptive nature of the ruling powers and the complete subjugation of the media to corporate interests and official propaganda.

In this way, 9/11 is an opportunity of extraordinary magnitude for consciousness building and positive change.

At the same time, we feel that is extremely important to maintain rigorous standards when evaluating or promoting evidence that seems to support our cause. Zeitgeist in particular includes both some very solid evidence and some speculative, if not debunked evidence.

I know you've only been open to 9/11 truth for a few weeks, but it is important (although exhausting and confusing) to be vigilant about what evidence you accept. Once our minds are opened to the legitimacy of 9/11 truth, it can be hard to screen out unsupported theories or claims.

At TruthMove, we take responsibility and fact checking very seriously. Like everyone, we've made mistakes and been sloppy at times, but we are always open to revising and correcting ourselves, and we call on others to do the same.

Here are couple of important pieces of evidence in Zeitgeist that do not seem to be backed up by the facts:
