Or maybe it's also bad translations and things taken out of context...

Ahmadinejad: US used September 11 as 'pretext' for invasions

    http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5h6XmaweiUeT6oh...

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused the United States on Tuesday of using the September 11, 2001 attacks as a "pretext" to launch invasions and cast doubt on the accepted version of the terror strikes.

"On the pretext of this incident a major military operation was launched and oppressed Afghanistan was attacked. Tens of thousands of people have been killed until now," he said in a speech broadcast on state television.

"But the names of the 3,000 people were never published and nobody was able to respond to the main question, which is how is it possible that with the best radar systems and intelligence networks the planes could crash undetected into the towers."

He said Iran's nuclear achievements mark the "acceleration of the trend to the destruction of major powers and with God's help this will become reality. World powers are struggling to survive."

More recent comments, he seems to be stepping it up. What is this stuff "the names not being published!?" He keeps saying that. Is it a bad translation, taken out of context or just ignorance on his part?

Washington 'speechless' after Ahmadinejad 9/11 comment

This Chinese story was the only one I found that didn't use that quote ("A building collapsed and they said that 3,000 people had been killed, whose names were never published.") Unsurprisingly, they seem to be supportive of US critique. "100 million people killed "in the course of conflicts raged by the arrogant power in the 20th century," damn, I didn't see that in any of the other stories. Makes you wonder about the righteousness of the land of the free, but also goes in one ear and out the other for many, when coming from this guy.

Iran accuses U.S. of invading Afghanistan, Iraq under pretext of Sept. 11 attacks
    http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2008-04/16/conte...

Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying that over one million people have so far been killed in the occupied Iraq and tens of thousands of civilians have died in Afghanistan after U.S. forces invaded the two countries.

Over one billion people throughout the globe are living in complete poverty, while more than 100 million people were killed "in the course of conflicts raged by the arrogant power in the 20th century," Ahmadinejad said.

The global arrogance and its hegemonic objectives are the root cause of all human calamities, he stressed.
