A civil rights group sued the Defense Department on Wednesday in an effort to force the Pentagon to turn over information it’s collected on peace groups and antiwar activists under a controversial program designed to track terrorists.

America yesterday denounced as “a good PR move” the suicides of three terrorism suspects at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp. The comment was made by a senior State Department spokesman who told the BBC World Service that the suicides were “a tactic to further the jihadi cause.”

During the last four years, a court-appointed special prosecutor has spent more than $5 million investigating a police torture ring that terrorized nearly 200 Black men on Chicago’s South Side during the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s.
