9/11 Truth Burnout - My new blog (42 posts)

So I've been tinkering with this for the past couple of weeks. Working on the appearance and figuring out the tone. I'm posting it here publicly first as I'm hoping for comments and critique. It's intended to be punchy although that's not apparent yet. I'm going to be talking trash about crap I don't like. Hopefully drawing the attention of some people who left the movement or are feeling like doing so. I indicate that it's a personal blog and not directly related to TruthMove.

On a side note have a look at my new profile website, linked to on the blog. I wrote all the code and content by hand. It's still a work in progress as I have info to add and editing to do. But I think I'm now the least anonymous participant in the movement. :)

Oh, and I haven't worked out IE6 compatibility. Of course if you are still using that garbage, I'm not so sympathetic.

Who creates websites from scratch anymore? There are a gazillion free templates out there with clean code. As for IE compatibility--whatever version--good luck. It's a designers nightmare.

Anyway, great first website, and nice blog. I burned out years ago. Turned to gardening. It's much more rewarding.

You definitely are the least anonymous person in the movement. It's definitely something that anyone in a leadership position should be doing. Both sites look really great so far.

I would say learn Flash because that is what I see everyone learning, but I do not think that it adds anything when you would like to get information out. Well-done and logical websites.

Flash has one major disadvantage. Search engines can not scan text inside flash easily. For that reason alone I don't recommend it for activism sites. If anything you want people to find your content with search engines.

I wrote about blogging and 9/11 activism here: http://www.truthaction.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4...

And of course also on my blog http://arabesque911.blogspot.com

One thing that you can do is direct traffic to content you support by linking to it (and conversely, avoiding links to material you do not endorse). Which means I need to update my links.

Agreed. It's not really in the spirit of the Web 2.0 transition away from flashiness and toward usability and interconnectedness. But the point about search engines is only partly true. A friend of mine got good at making database driven flash sites with searchable content. But generally, yeah, all those flash sites are off the map.

Rather than Flash I'm going to be learning Javascript and PHP over the next few months, like a real web designer. I prefer 'front end engineer.'

    Thanks for the encouragement everyone.

I'll be posting on a weekly basis.

Any external links to my blog would be greatly appreciated.

Just posted a new entry to my blog on wikipedia censorship of 9/11 truth and how to deal with flagrant bias. Check it out.

    http://911truthburnout.blogspot.com/2009/04/wikipe...

I'm updating the site every Sunday. If you like what you see so far please help me out with links to the blog. And you could also use the share button to let others know about it.

    Thanks.

New post about the "Big Tent."

    http://911truthburnout.blogspot.com/2009/04/avoidi...

I'm doing my best to promote the blog. Once again, links would help a lot. So would constructive criticism.

Latest post about wasting time and specifically considering the use of remote control.

    http://911truthburnout.blogspot.com/2009/05/wasted...

I posted this one a bit prematurely. I realized this evening that parts of it were silly. I worked it into shape. I'm still trying to find some kind of stride in terms of how much of my personality to include.

I've been trying to make the point in my new post for a while. The blog is really helping get me focused, feeling the pressure every week to write something just a bit less than totally superficial about a different topic.

  11. Good post.

9/11 truth is not about me or you. It has nothing to do with what makes us feel good or fascinated or fulfilled. 9/11 truth is about our mutual dedication to the high principle of truth.

I try to remember the difference between "working for the truth" and "making the truth work for you". Being able to let the chips fall as they may isn't particularly desirable with something as loaded as 9/11.

Great post. I absolutely agree with your assessment that, while a plausible scenario, the subject of remote controlled planes is difficult, if even possible, to prove and is more or less a waste of time.

    Thanks for the positive feedback.

My new post for the week went up last night.

    http://911truthburnout.blogspot.com/2009/05/avoidi...

It's about starting your own group and it's rather long. A bit of TruthMove history in there.

I figure that some of these will only be read by those interested in the specific subject. But I'm hoping that interested people stumble on the website over time and find something useful.

My newest blog post is up and it's called:

"Wasted Time - Citizen Investigation Team"

    http://911truthburnout.blogspot.com/2009/05/wasted...

Traffic has been decent on the blog. Maybe 50 unique visitors for each new post and 100 views. That's really exciting to me and encouraging me to keep at this on a weekly basis.

Out of curiosity, how do you check that sort of thing on blogspot?

I installed Google Analytics. You just go to the Analytics site, input your blog address and it spits out some code that you add to your blog just above the closing body tag </body> using the 'edit html' option. The reports are daily and update at midnight. Not the best stat service, but it's free and your stats are private.

Taking Out The Trash - "Jews did 9/11"

    http://911truthburnout.blogspot.com/2009/05/taking...

I'm pushing a few buttons this time. I know there will be disagreement. But it feels good to get this off my chest. I hope I dealt with it in a responsible way.

    Thanks for the excellent post.

The Protocols of Zion film looks interesting. I just watched the trailer. I am interested to see what its perspective is on Israeli foreign policy, if there is any.

I went to a festival yesterday which had many African American dealers of political DVDs and so much of what they were selling was blatantly anti-Semitic. Most of the dealers mixed DVDs and CDs of older speeches by King, Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, various Black Panthers with newer material that included Louis Farrakhan speeches, 911 In Plane Site, Alex Jones' films, and Zeitgeist. From the sheer volume of this material, you can see how influential the likes of Farrakhan and Jesse Jackson have been on the black community and how there is such a conscious effort to divide blacks and Jews.

After a couple weeks off here's my latest post about the new WAC group in New Jersey. I think they should shut down and read more. I'm sure I'll catch some frustration for this one, specifically over on TruthAction where these people post. But then again, I'm not doing this to make friends.

I doubt they'll even see it unless you post the link directly to the threads where they announced the site.

Been taking a break and recharging my batteries. Thinking about the movements problems is also a sure way to burnout.

My latest post is about the The Real Change and Transparency Conference. Not really my favorite post so far. Someone please let me know what they think before I go tell more people about it.

My best post yet! Certainly my most journalistic, while I'm not trying to avoid commentary. I really wanted to nail this one.

Alex Jones - 'Birther' or 'Truther'? http://911truthburnout.blogspot.com/2009/08/alex-j...

I also set up a Twitter account for my blog for these announcements and to post movement news that I find troubling or uplifting. There's a link at the site.

    Excellent post.

AJ is really closer to being a right-libertarian, populist version of Rush Limbaugh at this point.

    • uses Tarpley as a source for his film and has him as a frequent guest
    • legally threatened his former forum moderator for infowarstv.com
    • has Dr. Deagle as a frequent guest
    • hosted a Holocaust denier on his radio program: www.truthmove.org/forum/topic/1507
    • has completely ignored genuine, broad-appeal 9/11 activist efforts like those of Truthaction
    • is a guest on Geraldo At Large about the DC madam death and is treated very nicely by Geraldo when he was arrested for protesting the Geraldo At Large show approximately nine months before
    • is willing to act like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGFw3hY20lM -Thanks to Arcterus for the find (too bad Deep Purple had to get tagged to that)
    • continues to support the Obama birth certificate myth
    • promotes a complete misunderstanding of US history and US class structure by being one of the leading proponents of anti-NWO, which is more of a religion than a political perspective
